Default Landlord just received foreclosure auction notice, what

to do, is this shady? The situation: They just taped the sign on the door today. My landlord has 5 of us living here, paying rent in cashShe pretends she's living here by having mail sent in her name to this addressShe had months to tell us the house was in preforeclosure but didn't. The auction is 1/03/12. She expects us to pay rent for JanuaryShe came by today and told me that she's going to file for a loan modification to keep the houseThis is something that she has apparently told another tenant before in the past, but it never happenedHer "plan B" is that she has us sign lease agreements so that we can continue to live hereShe says her sister is a real estate broker, so she's got this under controlBut it seems shady because she never told us about this and even wondered why they didn't send the auction notice in an envelope, which signals to me that she wasn't going to tell us until the very last minute. What do you make of this situation?
