Default Should I file for bankruptcy before or after attempting

a deed in lieu of foreclosure? I am about four months behind on my mortgage, as I took a very significant pay cut and cannot afford to pay it along with my many other debts. I am not occupying the house anymore (I haven't told the bank that) and I'm to the point where I just want to get rid of the property altogether. I am planning to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, but would like to know if I should do this before or after contacting my bank regarding a deed in lieu of foreclosure. It has been on the market for 72 days (I know it has to be on the market for at least 90 before the bank will consider a deed in lieu) but am meeting with a bankruptcy attorney on Tuesday and would like non-biased advice before I meet with him or her regarding my home. Please help!Ken, the property is in Schaumburg, Illinois. At this point, I am not real interested in saving my credit. I will not need to purchase anything major for quite a few years and I feel like this is my best way out of this situation. Are you saying to not file bankruptcy at all or before I try to do the deed in lieu?

Donna Don't File A BK!!! I'm a former loan Associate for Bank of America and I'm Telling you that you don't wanna file. You Have to Get an Investor to receive the deed -n -lieu, if you want to save your Credit. Where is the property located? I work with people who are in your similar situation, if you have any more Questions Contact me. Kenneth
