Tenant Foreclosure Question?
I have an acquaintance that has been living in a rental property for the last year. The home went into foreclosure about 9 months ago and she decided to stop paying her rent, so for the past 8 months she has lived there rent free. She put it in her head that she was going to be able to live there for 2 years free before anything would be done and on top of that she would be given $3500 to move at when it came to that. About 2 months ago she started receiving notifications that she needed to vacate the premise which she did not do. Last Monday she had someone knock at her door telling her once again she needed to vacate as the house was being auctioned and was supposed to have already been vacant. Of course she didn't do so. On Friday she apparently received a letter stating the home did not sell at auction to a private owner however it did sell to Fannie Mae. She is now telling everyone that the notice states she could either purchase the home or she could move out and they would give her money to move provided she left the house in decent condition. (By the way she is planning on taking all the appliances out of the home when she moves)Has anyone heard of Fannie Mae doing this for renters who haven't paid rent for months? We just find it hard to believe and this person has a tendency for drastically stretching the truth.I certainly won't be defending MY character on a question listed about someone else! There is a reason she is listed as an acquaintance.
