...behind in payments or in foreclosure? Last night a man showed up at our house stating that he had papers to deliver to the owners of the house. I informed him that we were renting. He said that he was with citibank. He asked for my name, I did not give. I asked if I should be worried since I was making payments every month on time. He just said that we might want to call the owners since that doesn't mean that they are paying. However, this is not the first time a man has showed up. Almost a year ago a man showed up (I did not answer the door) and he said he was from Wells Fargo. Well I did contact the owners last year and they said the mortgage was with GMAC. Who are these men? Why would they show up? I have called the police to see if there are any scams going on in the area and none. They said to call them out next time someone shows up. Is there a list where I can find out if the owners are current? I plan on calling them but I'm not confident that they will tell me the truth. Are banks showing up at houses to talk to the owners to give them a chance to catch up? It seems odd to me. Help!

Only the owner knows, got ask him, and if he is behind you may have to find another home, unless you want to buy the house, what he does with the payment you gave him frr the rent is his business, as long as you made your payment that fine. so if you want to buy the house do so.

Often when a home owner is behind on payments, the bank reps or servers from the courthouse, will show up with papers for the owners. The home may be going into foreclosure but you will not be able to find out unless the owners are honest with you. Usually they are not because they want you to continue to pay them the rent.If the home is going into foreclosure, eventually you will see papers on the front door. You may be allowed to stay in the home un til the end of your lease. Have your lease paperwork saved in case you need to send a copy to the bank.If you have any friend in real estate, ask them to look up the tax records for the home you're in and see if the taxes have been paid, what bank holds the mortgage and if the home has already went into foreclosure. You may also be able to get information from the courthouse in your county/city. Take your copy of the lease with you showing you are the current renter.Good luck.
