In this economy, with people losing jobs left and right, how can you be surprised that people are having to give up their homes? Not everyone over extended themselves and bought homes they couldn't afford.Add to that the fact that some people who really could not afford to buy homes found financing and the sub-prime mortgage crisis and it was a disaster just waiting to happen. If anything, the banks and lenders shoulder the greatest blame in this.I don't agree with personal responsibility being at the heart of this problem. The problem is GREED, both on the part of the lenders and the organizations that backed them. Many people who could afford homes are now upside down in their mortgages. The people who could not afford homes and bought them anyway are only a small percentage of those undergoing foreclosure.
