Foreclosure, 60 day notice to move,...
...deposit used as rent? I have lived in my apartment for 9 years, a granny unit behind the main house. the other day I receive an email that I have been given my 60 notice to move out because the house is going through foreclosure proceedings. The landlord has already moved out, and I am not sure how many months the mortgage has not been paid, but I have been paying rent on time as normal. I have been told that for March, no rent is due, but they are going to use my deposit to pay the March rent. I still live there, can they use that deposit for that purpose when I am still there??So my rent is $830 and the deposit was $1000, should I be owed the difference between the amounts??Also, I was given the notice because legally she has too, but she has also stated that I can stay as long as the bank doesnt come a knocking, and of course if her lawyer can help save our home then we all get to come back...so if she uses my deposit and we end up saving the house am I responsible for coming up with an additional depoist???
