Default Do you worry as I do for all the dogs that are left

behind by families in foreclosure, losing jobs, and etc.? I recently found a great home for 2 labs, but am thinking there are many more out there needing homes. It's been playing on my mind a lot lately. What makes me mad is that there are posters on here asking about "breeding"!! What are they thinking!?Additional.....I'm very sad for the people losing homes, also. That's very sad, too.

Yup, it makes me very concerned. I'm increasing my donations to the shelter and putting in more volunteer hours...What I am particularly worried about are the new Veterinary tax proposals that will make pet health care even more expensive. It will further discourage people from taking care of pets that need it.

I am sad for all the dogs out there without a home, because they have no choice. BUT I am more sad for all the people/families that have to go without houses because of loosing jobs.

Like you, it frustrates the heck out of me. I guess when you don't have to be the one to euthanize those unwanted pets, you really can distance yourself from the problem. Just remember, for everyone like the BYB's on here, there are probably 2 or 3 of us that try to help those pets out. If you can help at least 1 of them, and the rest of us do the same, that is actually a lot of help. No one can do it all themselves. Be assured that there are tons of people out there trying to help.

There are many more. I noticed not too long ago the increase in ads posted on my area's Craigslist for beloved pets.Oh, don't even get me started on the people on here asking about breeding. I'm absolutely sick and tired of the utter selfishness and carelessness of some people. And not to mention the stupidity! Hello...it's a recession...people definitely can't afford to buy muttapoos if they can't even afford their groceries.

its life...i dont worrie so much i just do my part to help by fostering and finding homes...its very sad to think of families who are responsible owners end up loosing so many things that are dear to them..currently i have a great dane mix who was in that situation from a client of mine im holding the dog for her until she gets back on her feet,,she gets weekend visits with him..ya kno do a little....place an addin your local paper..will foster your dog or cat until you get on your feet..or just keep fostering,,,the better part of doggie sitting/caring is you can return the animal to the owner in the end..not yet again another HOME..

I know what you mean. I just took in 2 senior dachshunds due to home loss. They were to be PTS, and no hope for adoption since they were 14 and 10 years old. I took them, but I can not take them all. I breed, but I only breed a litter every other year or so, because I raise my own quality dogs for bench and field. I never sell an unaltered pup. I never sell an untrained pup. I never thought a lifelong frind would be so disposable because you had to move away, and why not take them to the vet to die with dignity? NO! Most people leave them to fend for themselves, starve to death or dump them at the pound. I will still breed my planned litter in 2011. But, I still took in 2 unwanted senior citizens to live out their lives in comfort and love. I will continue to reach outwhen and wherever I can. To do otherwise would be quite a poor tribute to man's best friend.

people that breed don't think, they care about money not the welfare of the puppies. your question, yep i have been wondering that my self. i want to open the biggest no kill shelter in the world. all dogs have a chance to either be adopted or stay with me. i know it's a great dream but that's mine. i wish more people really truely gave a damn, about the dogs and cats or other reptiles, rodents left behind. what alot of people don't understand is... they don't have to leave them, plan ahead, we did. you don't have to give up your pets, period!i know that foreclosure is scary to some, to me /us, i did not care anymore. the house was a moneypit the second year. i kept getting told to get rid of my mutt, noway, i had her before i met you. kiss my a$$. no one can every tell me to get rid of my furbabies. NO ONE! i/we have 2 pit bulls, and a cockerspainel/sheepdog.
