Default I need help with foreclosure and Income Taxes?

Our house went through foreclosure proceeding this past fall, what do I need to do when filing our income taxes? Will I get some kind of form from the mortgage company, and will this affect my refund?

You will get a form 1099-G from your mortgage company. It will not impact your refund. The govt extended the provision that you don't need to pay taxes on any amount that was forgiven in the case of a foreclosed mortgage due to the economic crisis.
