Process of foreclosure?

I am wondering how the process of evicting the homeowner works. If a home is going up for auction on Feb. 3.When does the homeowner have to be out of the house?How much notice does the homeowner get to pack up and leave? What if the homeowner refuses. I have heard that a lock will be put on the door with all belongings left inside.
