Default No contract, renting from a townhouse that...

...just went into foreclosure. Do I still have to pay? I am renting with no signed contract, and no verbal agreements of any kind. I just found out that the townhouse I am renting from went under forclosure, because the Landlord stop making any type of payment on the loan. Since, he is not make any payments on the loan, am I still obligated to pay my monthly rent? There was no prior contract ether. I am sufforing for my landlord not being able to pay on an investment property? I could see if he was using the rent money I've been giving him to try and make some type of payment on the mortgage; however, he is not making any payment. Which means my money is going into his pockets. I'm sure that is not legal. So why should I still pay, with no written, or verbal contract in place.

I'm not sure. But , I wouldn't get the house just in case something back fires.
