Cool view! Hancock ice skating rink opens Jan. 1
In the old days, you'd visit a city, whiz up to the top floor of the tallest building, look at the view -- maybe pop the question -- then zip back down. Thankfully, the people who operate these platforms in the clouds have come up with something entertaining to do while you're up there. The Willis Tower has The Ledge, and now the John Hancock Observatory has an ice-skating rink -- "The World's Highest," they say. But it's not really ice. It's "synthetic ice," and looks like a giant plastic cutting board.
