Default Five charged in Hawaii foreclosure/straw buyer scam allegations

Court records show that on April 22, 2009 an indictment was filed in the District Court in Hawaii charging five people in connection with an alleged foreclosure avoidance and straw buyer fraud scheme. Welton Kalani, co-owner of Accel Mortgage LLC
Bobby W. Wood, owner of Asian Pacific Funding and broker at Accel
Stephen Balino, owner of New Horizons Financial
Carlton Yim, Broker in Charge of Walter P. Yim and Associates
Audra Palomares, a Branch Manager with Accel Mortgage LLC
The five are accused, along with other unindicted people, of finding people who were facing foreclosure and offering to arrange “sham sales” to straw buyers in order to avoid their homes being foreclosed. The then arranged mortgage loans for the straw buyers using fraudulent mortgage applications and supporting documentation supplied by an unindicted person reffered to by the initials A.U. The straw buyers, known as S.H; H.E and R.K were paid a fee of between $12,000 and $15,000 for their part in the scheme.
However the loans arranged were in excess of the original loans and the properties all went into foreclosure.
Two such homes are mentioned in the indictment:
98-1953 Hoala St, Aiea, Hawaii
95-226 Waipono Place, Mililani, Hawaii
The FBI office in Hawaii confirmed to us that their enquiries in this matter are continuing.
