Man arrested - accused of selling his fathers home, interfering with care

Your post count is 0 momentarily. the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice announced that a South Windsor man was arrested today and charged with larceny and cruelty to persons in connection with his actions toward his elderly father. Michael A. Barile, age 45, of 35 Main Street, Tr. D, South Windsor, was charged with one count each of Larceny in the First Degree, Larceny in the Second Degree and Cruelty to Persons.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Mr. Barile is accused of using an invalidated power of attorney to sell his father’s Windsor Locks home and then using $13,000 of the proceeds for his own needs. Mr. Barile also allegedly applied for credit cards in his father’s name and interfered with his medical care causing him to suffer physical injuries, the warrant states.
Mr. Barile was released on a $50,000 non-surety bond and will be arraigned in Enfield Superior Court, G.A. No. 13, on March 10, 2009.
The case is being prosecuted by the Elder Abuse Unit in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney.
The charges against Mr. Barile are merely allegations, and he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
