Name not on title but is on insurance...?

My ex is telling me that I'm not allowed to take my car with me if I want to leave to go anywhere. His name is the one who's on the car title but my name is on the car insurance. Does that give me legal rights to take my car wherever I want to without him being able to take legal action?
