Default WEIRD SITUATION; transferring car title?...

...insurance? Recently my car was totaled by an other party, admittedly THEY were at fault...and i have been dealing with their insurance, and mine... the thing is, its actually my parents insurance, and the car title is in their name. But i have been borrowing it, then driving to work, and eventually they just gave it to me instead of getting rid of it because it was old. So it has been mine for a little bit, but never transferred the title...Nobody has said of it being a problem, they never brought it up and hasn't been an issue thus far...So i am supposed to meet up with THEIR insurance guy soon and im supposed to fill out some paper work and he will write a check out to me on the spot...Shouldnt my mom or dad be their to sign that stuff over (i assume the title/proof of transferring paper work) ??????????????? if not, and no one says anything...what will even happen, or will everyone just assume, im obviously my parents son...and connect the dots and be fine with it????The agent said ill just fill out some stuff with him (we will just meet up somewhere near by my work...) and then he will write me a check...but...its technically not my car? or will they sned my parnets what we fill out and then THEY can transfer the title...?? NEXT PROBLEM:And now I need to buy a car now...When i buy a USED car soon, and they transfer their (owner) title to me...i need proof of insurance when this happens (right?)...well, i don't CURRENTLY and NEVER actually had insurance (in my name), my parents paid for it, and just drove their car... Do i just buy insurance NOW, with NO current car to actually insure yet, or what?! Dont you need a car first, then get insurance..or am i screwed?
