Default Car Company Refuses to Send Car Title?

I recently got a car from Express Credit Auto, I paid a down payment $700 and have a monthly payment $310 (half paid every two weeks from the paid date). I paid the first two payments already and was promised the title when I paid the first one but still haven't gotten the title. I'm now on the third payment which, I was told was due the 17th of July but they suddenly say it was due the 10th of July. I wasn't told til the 12th though and I'm financially in a bind right now until the 17th.Anyway, while I was discussing the payment with the dealer, I asked about the title which he said has already been sent and I should have it. When I told him that I hadn't received the title, he says I'm lying. I even gave them the most current address I have (I moved shortly after I got the car) and they "forgot" to write it down so I asked them to resend it to the current one and they keep saying it's already sent and I have it.I told them I really need the title and can't even drive the car because the temporary tag is expired by several weeks (almost a month) and the police around here are VERY strict even if you don't drive the car. I asked them why should I have to pay for an "illegal" car because they refuse to send me the title and they called me a liar saying I have the title and I'm trying to avoid making my payment. I can pay it by the 17th but they said they will tow the car in a couple days; maybe even as early as today. I can't pay them today and I still need the title ASAP so I can actually drive the car. What should I do?

I would contact the Office of the Attorney General of your state and file a complaint against the company. Most states you can do this online and you will have a copy for your records, i would also email a copy of the complaint to the president of the company so that they know you are serious. They can not expect you to pay for a car that you cannot drive due to something beyond your control. Even if you had gotten the tittle and lost it, they are required to help you obtain a new one because your car has a lien on it and you can't get another tittle without paperwork from them. In the meantime if you know anyone that will allow you to park your car in their driveway so that it isn't sitting ton the street that will save you from having the city tow your car. You will just have to either have it towed there or take your chances and drive it (hopefully not far) with someone following really close behind you, no that isn't actually the best thing to do but it may be your only option. You may just be dealing with the wrong people in the Company and it is time to go over their heads to someone higher to get this issue resolved. They don't want to lose money and your a new buyer. I would also file a complaint with the better business bureau whatever it takes, you have already made one payment and haven't been able to even drive the car why should you have to make another? I hope this helped
