Default If I own a rental property that is facing forclosure can

1)they come after our primary residence 2)the house is only in my name (I purchased before I was married), will it affect my wife\'s credit and 3)can they come after other assets, both mine alone and my wife\'s alone, or ours together?

it will affect her credit with anything that she has jointly with you... if someone pulls a joint credit app for the two of you, it will adversely affect her credit rating - including her mortgage credit rating that she has with you (assuming that you have your current home together)... each time that you continue to pull your credit "together", once it is on your credit, it will affect hers. if she pulls her credit alone, it won't, but from here on in, once that is on your record, and if you continue to pull a joint pull, hers will go down. if you do single pulls, and only do things individually from that point on - no it won't. make sense?

Your credit issues will never lower your wife's credit scores. The only way she will be affected is if you both apply for joint credit. Both your credit and your wife's will be considered together and in that respect it will affect her ability to obtain credit. Her scores will never be lowered if a joint credit report is pulled. in a joint tri-merged credit report there will still be 6 seperate scores--3 will be your scores and 3 will be your wife's scores.
