payments. The mortgage company put a foreclosure on our credit report? There was never a sheriff's sale or notice of foreclosure posted. We wound up doing a loan modification with fees and late payments tacked on the end of the contract. How can I get the (non-)foreclosure off of my credit reports?

Contact all three credit bureaus and challenge the negative/false data. If you haven't already, get a copy of you annual free credit report at annualcreditreport.com to see if there is any wrong info on there. I'd look into suing them for libel and other damages for putting that into your credit report before any action was taken as well. That company needs to learn about false reporting and the consequences for it.
