It really depends on the bank itself.
Usually, after the first missed payment the bank will give you a letter saying you missed a payment, etc. However, after the second missed payment it will usually start to show up on your credit report. Many times the credit report can be fixed after a modification, remember the most important thing is to make sure you keep your house!

Most times after 90 days of missed payments they are legally allowed to start the foreclosure process. I have had some clients in my office go almost 2 years before they even began! They can start reporting after one missed payment.
