Default I'm going through a divorce, my husband has

stopped paying the mortgage. Can i file a foreclosure extension? I currently live in Utah and i'm going through a divorce. My husband was asked to pay the house payment "if he can" and he's neglected to do so. Even though the house loan is under his name only, I have my name on the second (equity loan). We filed for the equity loan about a year ago and paid some things off. I was told by friends that i could possibly file for an extension but i don't know what that means or if its possible i have two small children and need the time to find another place since i'm strapped w/ finances on a single mother's income and minimal child support. I was unaware of the auction of my home until two days ago with a letter on my door saying the auction is in 15 DAYS! If this is the case how long will it take before i'm expected to move out or will they understand that i haven't been notified since my husband gets the mail and clearly has not notified me?

call a mortgage broker and one will probably tell you what you don't want to hear. my family is in mortgage and real estate and from what they have told me, you are too late. I would start looking to make alternative plans. the broker can give you some idea about how long you can be there but i don't think it is a long time.
