Fanny Mae/Freddie Mac takeover?

It is being reported that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will officially be taken over by the government later this week. What effect, if any, will this have on home prices? I'm looking to buy a home and wonder if I should wait a little bit longer to purchase.

It wont have any effect on home prices. It will only affect stockholders and bondholders.

Fanny and Freddy won't have a direct effect on home prices, but it will help stabilize the market. Buying a home right now is a great idea, depending on your location. Some areas that have been purged of huge gains are prime spots to buy in. Always buy into weakness, sell into strength.
