I am in the process now of buying my first home in Morgantown, WV. I read an article about shopping for the best mortgage rates. My question is what is the best way to do this. I looked at bank websites in the area and all of them list interest rates that are way higher than the national interest rate. Do I have to get a loan from a bank in this area or can it be from anywhere? What is the best way to find the lowest rate?Also I know it is related to ones credit score. I have actually never seen my credit score but have seen my credit report. I do not have any late payments and I pay my enitre credit card balance off each month. I do not have any student loans or cars loans.Thanks for your help.The best thing to do is to go to each bank and see what they can offer me? Will this hurt my credit score by doing this and in turn lower it?
