can a mortgage broker do other loans besides mortgages?

i know a mortgage broker brokers between lenders and borrowers. i know that a loan officer usually works for the lender. so is there anyway that a person can be a loan broker? basically a broker for other types of loans besides mortgages... say for example a broker for a business loan.
