Loan Officer/Mortgage Consultant in TX?

Im considering changing professions....Im going to start by taking a Loan Originator course, and test. My first question is what kind of salary does this profession make? Im planning on staying at my current job while I build some clientele (first year)...but after say the first year, what kind of money should I look forward to? Any advice is welcome! :-)
