Usda Mortgage Requirements For Basements And
GARAGES? I have recently put an offer on a house and I fall under the criteria for the USDA Mortgage. After reviewing the guidelines I notices several things that may cause an issue. 1) 2 car attached garage is made of cement block and has piping for the house (the kitchen is directly above) the inspection sheet says it should have dry wall covering the walls and ceilings. I thought this seems pretty irrelevant to the condition of the house. 2) the basement has 2 small damp spots that dry fairly quickly with a fan. I asked the inspector and he said that i would NEVER need a sump pump. Would this make me ineligible for the mortgage since the USDA loan says that basements should have NO water in them? 3) There is an old chimney on the house the fireplace inside has since been removed, however the inspector said there is 26% moisture there and he couldn't tell if it was drying out from being fixed which is supposedly was or if it still needed repaired. This is also a big NO on the mortgage inspection sheet. Can anyone with some insight on USDA or FHA mortgages since they are similar provide me with some feedback on whether or not I should count on receiving this mortgage or not.
