Default Can I use my own appraiser for a mortgage

appraisal? I am refinancing my home. The bank is requiring an appraisal, but I feel the price they are charging me for the appraisal is a bit high. Is there any way I can go out an get my own appraisal? If not, do I have any other recourse to get the cost down (besides going with another bank)?

No most banks have an approved appraiser list and this way its an arms length transaction where the appraiser is a disinterested third party. You can order an appraisal yourself but i doubt any financial institution will accept it in place of their own. sorry
