Default My mortgage payment is due on the 1st and I sold

(closed) on the 29th. Can the bank report I was 30 days late? I stayed current all the way through the last month, in which I did not make the payment. As I said we closed on the 29th, which is less then 30 days. Therefore, I no longer owned the home as of day 29. What action should I take or is this illegal for them to do this? My credit is already going to take a hit from HAFA Short Sale, but I never defaulted. It has already showed up on my credit as 30 days late.

The industry standard for reporting a late payment is 30 days so it's highly unlikely that it will get reported as late. Also it may take months 2 to 4 for this to show up if it does at all.
