we broke up 2 yrs ago.will i be able to get a new mortgage? i had a relationship with a terrible man for 6 years...we got a house mortgage together and i put down $30,000 of my own money on the house...2 years ago i could not take his abuse that my 2 daughters and i endured during that time and we both sat down and he and i came to an agreement to break up (we were not married)...it was agreed that he would remain living there and get the place refinanced and have my name taken off...i moved to a friend's house for a couple of months while i looked for a place to rent...he changed the locks on the place and "forbade" me to get my stuff that we agreed i could get when i found a place...i called the police and they would not help me because it was something i would have to take him to court over to get my and my daughters belongings...after a year of trying to get my things and him not getting my name off the house, i was forced to take him to court...it ended up going to mediation 4 months ago...he was ordered to pay me $18,000 for our belongings (he sold and destroyed our things), and he was given 6 mos to refinance and get my name off the house...also, he has been ordered to pay the mortgage on time, because he has paid late on it numerous times and it is hurting my credit-(i have about a 650 score, i was told i would have just about perfect if it weren't for him paying late on something i don't have control over)...i even paid last years taxes that he failed to pay so that the place would not be taken away and hurt my credit even more...i want to buy a house that would cost 1/2 as much as i am now paying rent, but i am worried that i can't get a loan because he has hurt my credit...also, that my name is on the house i worry that a bank won't lend to me because i already have a mortgage...i fear he is blowing off the court order to refinance and get my name off of the house...what do i do if he goes past the time he was given by the court to do so?...also, is there any chance of me getting a loan with my name on that house and him hurting my credit?...i want my daughters and i to get a house so that we can have a nicer place with more room and less money than we are paying now?...any suggestions on what lender (bank, FHA, etc)?...any suggestions on what i should do?...or am i stuck in this apartment?...
