Default Can I change lender after getting mortgage

commitment letter? I have locked in my interest rate and I am about to get commitment letter. But interest rates are dropping now and it is expensive to get new (lower) interest rate with the original lender.Am I legally allowed to go with a new lender at this stage? I have almost 30 days for closing.
