programs to help owners who have not defaulted? We have a interest only loan and the 5 yr period ends in July. I have no idea what the new payment will be but I don't know that we will be able to afford it. I try to pay more than the interest only amount to help bring down the principal. The bank doesn't seen to want to help probably because I am making the payments. I'm not asking for a principal reduction I just want to get into a fixed rate. I am one of those owners who is upset at all these programs to help people who are in foreclosure but can't seem to find one for people who are responsible and just need some assistance. Is the only answer to let the house go into foreclosure?
