Default when a mortgage holder sells my mortgage...

...does that mean I'm applying for a new loan? with my social security #? I just bought a house with owner finance. We went through a title company and the deed is in my name with them as mortgage holder. They are trying to sell my mortgage and want my social security number. they said I wouldn't be approved for the loan without it. Am I required to apply for a new loan each time the mortgage is sold?
