Mortgage break for 6 months for homeowners out of...

...work? It was said on TV that there would be a new policy that would allow homeowners out of jobs to get 6 months of mortgage break. Shall a homeowner contact his/her mortgage lender to get a break? Will this affect his/her credit rating?
