...ex-wife's mortgage, even though court said he couldn't? My partner went through a divorce 2years ago. He was on a joint mortgage with his ex-wife, but when he went to court for the settlements off the divorce, it was stated that he wouldn't receive any money off the house if it was to be sold, BUT, he had to keep his name on the mortgage because his ex-wife only earns benefits and wouldn't be able to get a mortgage on her own. It was stated she has to try every year. So far, she's had no luck, but me and my partner are in a position of getting a mortgage, but struggling as he's already on one. Is there a possibility that if my partner went to a solicitor, he would be able to get his name off the mortgage? And if so, what will happen with the ex-wife's house? Please help! All answers are very much appreciated! Many thanks!*** I forgot to say that my partner doesn't pay any contribution towards the mortgage. In my opinion, he's acting like a "stand in" to keep a roof over his EX - wife's head, while he's struggling to get back onto the property ladder and support me and our 9month old baby!
