Default Can I sue co-owner on mortgage deal?

My layer put my brother as a co-owner in the mortgage deal 5 years ago, because my credit and payment ability didn't allow me to do it by myself. My brother didn't contribute anything in this mortgage, not a cent!!!! He asked me to rent an apartment last year. I gave him a rent under good price. Now he stop paying rent and ask for money to remove his name from the deal. I can't afford this mortgage without tenants, so now I am about to lose the house and totally broke!!! Can I sue him for not paying rent as far as he never contribute in mortgage? Or if there are any options for me????
