Default hardship letter for mortgage company..what do

you think? I am writing this to explain our unfortunate set of circumstances that have caused us to become delinquent on our mortgage. In September 2008, I lost my job and was unable to find employment until October, wish set us back. We have done everything we can to catch up but unfortunately we have fallen short and we would like you to consider working with us to modify our loan. Our number one goal is to keep our home and we would really appreciate the opportunity to do that.

sounds good to me. I would try calling and talking to an actual person. In this market, I doubt they would want to foreclose anyway. If you have a plan to recover, I am sure they would like to hear it.

When we had to work out a plan because we needed a couple months to recoup, I know our mortgage company didn't care what the circumstances were, they just wanted an outline for how we were going to catch up - which we had to come up with.We ended up asking for 3 months without payments and tacking the additional on to the next 9 months. They ended up letting us.
