...companies fail or survive on their own? I am sure it could mean a different way of life, OR the banks would have to cut salaries and pay for ALL of thier people. Share holders would be broke and buisnesses woulf fail. We will have to start from scratch. Was there not a time when we did not have a stock market and there were humans living on this Earth. If small buinsesses have been allowed to fail for centuries, them why do these "Fat Cats" deserve a trillion dollars of the money our grand children and great grand kids will have to pay back? Our unborn great grand kids have no say in this matter, neither does everyone under age 18 who will be affected greatly. Why not let the greedy banks, mortgage companies, insurance companies all fail if they can not survive with out free money from the workers who they have screwed for the past 100 to 500 years? They will surely waist all of the $700,000,000,000 so why give them eight hundred billion dollars more?, ($800,000,000,000.00)????I am sure President Obama and the Repubicans and Democrats are smarter than me but is there a lack of common sense somewhere? Is not enough, enough? We can all go back to farming and milking cows or back to the barter system as far as I am concerned.

Finally, some body with some down to earth intelligence, I say bravo! let the greedy ba$tard$ fail. Now we have the government backing our free capitalist economy. How can that be? Our whole system is based on succeed or fail. Now the banks were failing so our government takes our money and props them up.WTF?

I think it would be wise to let the banks go under themselves. The money is insured and why not, businesses fail every day - why is theirs above all others? The 800 billion that they are now talking about giving away is supposedly going to infrastructure and other things, not to the banks. This can be a good thing, and I hope it works.

I agree to let them fail but we can't unforunately. We should take ownership of these banks if we have to pay for them. Just this week the greedy CEO of Merrill Lynch after almost going under gave the upper managent millions in bonuses. Last year he made 83 million. He should go to jail for ripping off the US public.Joseph, MBAMbacalculator.com
