My mother passed in '07. How do I prove that I am to

take over her name in the mortgage, insurance etc. ? I was told to show that I am the executive of the will but she never had one. I am the only child and she was divorced. I have had this problem since she passed, with identity theft on the rise I have had to jump through hoops just to do things like pay for the mortgage.
