Default Why doesn't the mortgage interest go down...

...to help out during this economic crunch? I keep seeing how the short term loan interest rate is what everyone is talking about. And then I hear about trying to bail out these people with high interest mortgages. This doesn't make sense to me.

Default Stop foreclosure and save my home

Put it this way: say you are someone that has money. You find a mortgage and purchase it, you are not buying the note to hold paper you are buying the payments including interest. Now you want the government to tell you after spending millions of dollars to buy payments that the government is going to take your money away. That is the cold hard truth of the matter. Now we have been very good at reducing interest rates and helping homeowners stop foreclosure and save their homes.
