you can get one in about 5 minutes by going to bankofamerica.com and filling out a pre-approvl application. They send it out right away assuming your credit check is good.

Default mortgage pre-approval letter?
contact any mortgage broker and bank, submit your financials they do a little preliminary work and get you a letter to go shopping with to find a house that meets your budget.
