#1 check to see if they are members of the BBB, there are scammers out there. Be sure to check the links and look for complaints and if they have been resolved. A complaint or 2 are ok but if they are not resolved then keep on moving. That is about the best advise I can give you.

I agree with admin. One of the best thing to do also is to look for people who have had a successful loss mitigation claim and ask for a referral. The more people you find, the more options you will have because each one of them may refer you to a different company. Choose the one recommended by a person who had a similar claim as you have right now. You may also do an online research to compare between different companies. And yes, there are plenty of frauds and scams out there, so beware.
