Default I am looking to buy a house but I live in

another state and how can I find a real estate agent whom I can trus I am looking to buy a house but I live in another state and how can I find a real estate agent whom I can trust being that this is going to be a out of state move?
I already have been emailing back and forth with a realtor for a house and if I have to pay for the earnest money for a house, who gets it?
He told us the earnest money is whatever I am comfortable with however I am concern whom to give money too via a personal or cashiers check?

be careful! IF you are sending moeny to anouther state i would not recomend it! I would contact your local realtor with a national chain and tell them what you are doing. you dont know the agent to whom your sending money and with a national firm you whould be able to work thru them if they are in anouther state.

Go with a national agency - Coldwell, Weichert, Century 21, ReMax. Their local agents can work with the out-of-state agents to funnel infomration down to you. THey would split the commission - which they won't be thrilled about - but they'll do it anyway because it is their business model.

Trulia. Great sight. Our realtor didn't even have us sign a contract that she was representing us until we signed for our house, and we didn't put down any earnest money until we made an offer on our house.

Look at the mls listings in the area you want to buy. Go with the agent that has the largest number of listings for sale in that area.

This does a few things:
1. you get someone that is knowledgable about the area.
2. The more listings the more successful the agent and likely the better the agent.

Once you have made contact with the agent ask for references.
