Default Finding a real estate agent in Riverside,...

...CA? My husband and I are getting transferred and need to sell our house in Riverside County. Any recommendations of specific agents or good ways to find a qualified agent?

I'm a Realtor in Ohio. The company I work for has connections with other Real Estate companies all over the United States. If you would like me to find a good agent for you email me your contact info. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

I would suggest that you find your real estate agent the same way that you find any other service provider:

(1) Do your research first on the field in which you need help (in your case, finding buyers, marketing your property, and closing the deal);
(2) Identify any potential challenges in the services that you need (here, you'll have an uphill battle due to the market slump and large numbers of foreclosures);
(3) Identify a pool of potential service providers (from searches on the Internet, friends' recommendations, etc); and
(4) Contact each potential agent to ask them how they will deal with your issue and the challenges that you will face.
As I mentioned, it's a buyer's market in Riverside, so I recommend that you specifically ask agents what they are doing to move houses. You will need more than just a listing, a flyer, and a sign in front. See what ideas they have, and see who takes you seriously and who you're comfortable with. Good luck.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Same goes for any service provider, the one that is a good fit for your friend may not be the best fit for you.

Suggest you take a drive through local neighborhoods in your area, look for real estate agent signs, many will have "sold" marked across them (agents leave the signs up until closing).

Stop and talk to the owners to see what their experience was, how the agent handled the sale, etc. Good agents work the same areas, price the property correctly and sell the house. People refer friends (good and bad agents). Sellers will tell you what you need to know.

One last word, if you want to sell in the California market, you have to be realistic with your price expectations. Even the best agent can't move an over-priced property.

Good luck.
