It takes quite awhile. Usually they don't start the foreclose process until you've missed your 4th payment. If you can send them the full amount that you are behind you'll be fine. If you can't I think it's like 6 + months. That's just a guess though

Foreclosure proceedings vary by state. In California, the most common type of foreclosure is called a nonjudicial foreclosure and is handled by a trustee. This foreclosure process takes a minimum of 4 months and the bank won't start the foreclosure process until you are several months behind.
