...sell your mortgage? i had a property claim with BOA and they got the checks and deposited them and then sold my mortgage to another mortgage company and now my contractor cannot get paid because they have not released the money to the other company.

Certainly not. Most mortgage companies do that on a regular basis. Mine has been sold 4 times already.
