Are these online only mortgage lenders better?

Im referring to Provident funding. They seem to have lower rates than banks, maybe because they don't pay to operate branches. But payments are either phone or online with a 15$ charge each time. Or free with auto pay. I'm hesitant because they don't have somewhere I can stop by.
