Buying a rental property in CA without wife on mortgage

or deed? I just received some money from a family member and want to buy a rental property with it but I want to keep my wife off of the mortgage and title in the event of a divorce. Would having her sign a quitclaim deed when buying it ensure that it will stay with me if we separate?
