What lenders are known to give mortgages for
less than 2 yrs out of bankruptcy? I found a $25,000 home I want to purchase to live in. However, my husband and I filed bankruptcy about 15 months ago (due to job loss and major loss of income. My husband is now working again but for less money :-( ). The home was discharged in the bankruptcy (along with all of our other debts) but we are still living in it because I'm making payments. However, i owe about $96,000 on a home that is worth about $30,000. My current morgage lender will NOT lower my payments. Are there lenders out their willing to work with us? We have 20% to put down. Oh and the current morgage is just in my name. We have planned to put the new mortgage in just my husband's name. He has zero debt and a 660 credit score. Any advice? Why do people always think mortgage lenders don't lend for small amounts of money? THEY DO. I know it for a fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in Michigan, not California or Maine where homes are uber expensive. The average home price in the area I live is about $70,000. 1 in 4 people in my city have or will lose their home due to foreclosure. I have had SEVERAL mortgage companies say they are willing to work with me if I were 2 years out, but I'm not. So the price is not an issue whatsoever!
