Default When do bank statements get reviewed by...

...mortgage lender? I'm a little confused and my lender seems to never answer this question for me:He already reviewed my bank statements when I was getting a prequalification for a home loan, however, I did not deposit the cash savings I had which was for my down payment. The lender told me to deposit the money and wait 2 months for the deposit not to show up on the statements so they don't have to audit it. I am really desperate to buy a house and can not wait 2 months! What I am wondering is: Could I start a contract for a house earlier and make the closing date a couple of days after my bank statements pass two months after the big deposit? OR do they need the statements before writing up the contract? Is there anyway around this?
