What should I regarding a missing mortgage payment...
...to my old mortgage lender? I have my mortgage through US BANK. I received notice a while back that they had sold my account to Bank of America (BoA). My last payment to US BANK was for my April mortgage. My check was sent in on March 30 and cashed on April 1st. I sent in my May payment to BoA April 28. On April 29, I received a call from BoA collections that I am late on my April payment. My April payment was no where to be found. I made a phone call to US BANK and BoA and here is what was said. I also faxed over proof of my check and my bank statements showing it was cashed. My account was transferred to BoA from US BANK on April 1 and my check was also cashed on the same day. It looks as if the check US BANK sent to BoA did not include the payment for April mortgage. I then called BoA and they told me that my May payment will be put towards my April payment and that my June payment will go towards my May payment and late charges will apply for all payments until the transfer goes through from US BANK. They said once it does all late charges will be cleared and it will be back to normal. They also assured me that nothing will be reported to my credit report as late payments. I am leery about this. Should I just pay an extra payment to catch up and then when it is transferred it will just be an extra payment? Should I wait it out? I am nervous about the negative report and also that I have this "missing" mortgage payment floating around.
