Default Do mortgage credit inquirys hurt your

score? I was talking to a VA Lender about 5 minutes ago about getting a mortgage and I do not want to get a credit inquiry until I am ready to take out the loan because I do not want it to effect my score negatively. He told me that recently things have changed to where credit inquirys for a mortgage do not effect your score. It is a hard inquiry but that it is not like going out and applying for a bunch of credit cards. Is there any truth to this? I want to make sure first because I already have a pretty high number of hard inquiry's on my credit report and I do not want to add another one and it hurt my score if I find a better place to get the loan from. some other quick facts. I am active military qualify for VA loan.I have higher than a 620 minimum score.I have 9 Hard Inquiry's currently on my credit report. (Made a mistake of 'shopping' around for a car loan)
